Industrial Therapy

Workman's Compensation Injuries

Functional Capacity Evaluations

A major part of our industrial program involves functional capacity evaluations (FCE) and return to work evaluations (RTWE).  FCE's are good indicators of a person's overall ability including possible lifting restrictions, hand abilities, repetitive movements, and balance/coordination.  This information can be utilized in determining a person's ability to return to a specific job or used for job retraining/placement and what type of job that individual is capable of performing.

Impairment/Disability Ratings

Impairment ratings are performed based on the guidelines set forth in the American Medical Associations Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, Fifth Edition.  We perform impairment ratings for amputations, neck and back injuries, orthopedic insults, neurological problems, and pain syndromes.

Industrial Rehabilitation/Work Hardening

The goal of our industrial rehabilitation program is to effectively treat our patients and to create an easier transition back into the work place.  Each patient has an exercise program designed for their specific needs and work tasks. General stretching, strengthening, and conditioning exercises are incorporated.  Our industrial rehabilitation program also places a heavy emphasis on body mechanics training and patient education to prevent future injuries and lost-time accidents.

Industrial Screening

Our clinic also provides industrial screening for employers.  We utilize several different screening methods based on employer needs and job requirements.  We also have staff members certified with Advanced Ergonomics, Inc. for industrial screening.

These screening methods can be a vital part of cost reduction for employers, based on the prevention of lost time accidents as well as medical costs.  The prevention of one lost time accident could more than cover the expenditures for a company's entire screening program.

Job Site Analysis

Job site analyses can lead to health cost reductions for employers.  This program is designed to create specific job descriptions which help employers determine if individuals are qualified for the correct positions.  Our trained staff will come to the place of employment and utilize calibrated equipment to determine specific weights and pressures of tasks for that specific job.  We will also assess the area for safety issues and other ergonomic concerns.
