My name is Janet Sheldon. I’m the Executive Director here at Park Regency of Moultrie.

Interviewer: And tell me a little bit about Park Regency.

Janet Sheldon: Well Park Regency is a very special community. I think one of the things that makes it so special is our staff. People come in and they say what a beautiful building, and it is probably one of the prettiest assisted livings in the state, but the really important thing about Park Regency is the staff. We also have just an incredibly low turnover. We have people that have been with us since we opened the doors.

Interviewer: When did Park Regency open?

Janet Sheldon: About 12 years ago. You would never believe it, based on this floor plan. Our owner and founder Joe Rosen was a man of, he was just a visionary.

Interviewer: And tell me a little bit more about your residence.

Janet Sheldon: Well, we have two separate and distinct, actually, portions of the building, and they have different rules and regulations. We have our memory care, and we have our assisted living.

Interviewer: About the memory care, there’s a lot of things going around today about memory care units. What exactly is a memory care unit?

Janet Sheldon: Well, in our case, at Park Regency, our memory care is a secured area, which means that one must enter and exit with a keypad. Having said that, one of the things also that makes Park Regency so different is we have a lot of free outdoor space in which residents can go at their own. So the doors are open, and we have a lovely landscape garden of large size that they can walk in, and they have a beautiful screened porch trees that are sculpted, so there’s no sense of barriers.

Interviewer: I noticed on the way in there were some residents out there on the rocking chairs.

Janet Sheldon: Yes. Our rocking chairs, they put in a lot of hours in those rocking chairs, and watching the traffic seems to be a major thing, and we’re right here on 319, so we get to see cabbage trucks and horse trailers and ambulances and fire, and we’re just about a half a mile from Conklin Regional Medical Center.

Interviewer: So tell me, why would somebody choose Park Regency over another facility here in Southwest Georgia?

Janet Sheldon: Well, we are simply the best, and if you don’t believe that, all you need to do is speak with one of our resident’s families, or even our residents. If somebody walks in the door here, they say all the time, “I can just feel the difference.” It’s a wonderful place.
